The aim of this Leadership Workshop is to explore leadership principles and practices grounded in the African context, addressing contemporary challenges and opportunities unique to the continent. Designed for entrepreneurs and business leaders, this workshop will provide valuable insights into how African cultural values, such as Ubuntu, collective decision-making, and community-centered leadership, can shape effective leadership across business, government, and social sectors. Additionally, there will be a dedicated networking session to foster connections among attendees, providing an opportunity to exchange ideas, collaborate, and build relationships that can drive future leadership and business opportunities.
The Startup Huddle event provides a platform for entrepreneurs to discover solutions to the challenges they face through purposeful engagement with a broad array of voices from the local community, who can also share their experiences.
Startups are given context about the topic at hand, which includes tools, tricks and techniques from experts. This can take up to 10min. Thereafter, they will be given 2-3 minutes to tell us about some of the challenges they have encountered in their business venture. Participants then get into small groups where they Huddle for a 10-minute -interactive activity. Each group selects a team member or two to share what they discussed. The Huddle will close off having equipped the techies with practical and value-add experience they can use in their startup journey.
The Google Startup Bootcamp, taking place on March 17, 2025, is part of the Google for Startups Black Founders Fund initiative, established in 2020. This initiative has provided over $30 million in equity-free funding to support Black-led startups across Africa, Brazil, Europe, and the United States, fostering community growth and generational change.
