Accra, Ghana, witnessed the success of GEC+ Africa 2024’s lead-up activity on 14 December 2023. In partnership with the Association of Ghana Startups and SMMEs, alongside GEN Ghana, GEC+Africa organised a thriving pitch event which drew a youthful and engaged audience.

Hosted at the Accra Digital Centre, Startups and SMMEs took the stage before a panel of judges presenting their innovations to investors and the winner earned the opportunity to compete alongside other participants at GEC+ Africa 2024 in Cape Town where they stand a chance to secure a portion of the $100,000 cash prize.

Distinguished figures such as the Minister of Information, Hon. Kjo Oppong Nkrumah, graced the event, while the panel of judges featured Zinhle Mncube, Investment Associate at 22 On Sloane, Stephan Gyasi-Kwa, GEN Ghana MD, Charmaine Hayden, Fund Manager for Goodsoil VC, Edward Akani, Co-Founder & CEO of Bethniel Financial Technology, and Esther Adjei, CEO of Surprising Ghana and Founder of Gem Consulting.

The judging process evaluated business model viability, competitive advantage, and team execution capacity which resulted to Swiftway Shippers being selected as the overall winner and will receive an all-expenses paid trip to the 2024 GEC+Africa Cape Town pitching stage.

Swiftway Shippers is a technology-driven logistics company based in Ghana, specialising in freight brokerage services. Their focus is on simplifying and enhancing the international shipping experience for businesses by leveraging a cutting-edge web and mobile application.

This annual event, organised by the Association of Ghana Startups (AGS) in collaboration with the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), aims to acknowledge, recognize, and nurture the entrepreneurial spirit propelling Ghana’s future prosperity.
