Press Release | May 10, 2023
The Global Entrepreneurship Congress (GEC) is a platform that fosters cross-broader collaboration between entrepreneurs, investors, researchers, policymakers, and entrepreneurial support organisations. This collaboration fuels healthier ecosystems that make it easier for anyone, anywhere to start and scale a business while creating jobs and driving economic growth in the process. GEC is hosted in a different entrepreneurial city each year and it convenes thousands of delegates to share and strengthen innovative approaches to empower entrepreneurs as well as increase innovation.
This year, GEC will be hosted in Melbourne and will be led by Dr Chad Renando, the GEN Australia Managing Director. According to the Global Startup Ecosystem Report (GSER) created by Startup Genome in partnership with GEN, Australia is home to the top two ranked startup ecosystems on the continent. Sydney is ranked first and 20 in the world while Melbourne is close behind as an up-and-coming entrepreneurship hub.
The Victoria Breakthrough Fund has invested $1.49 billion in projects in health and Life Sciences, Advanced Manufacturing, digital technologies, Agtech & New Food, and clean economies. Additionally, the state government has allocated $361million towards new job creation initiatives, with dedicated funds for small business services and support initiatives and funds to revitalise Melbourne’s central business district.
The main theme of GEC 2023 is Transform Your World as this will be a platform which aims to start a new era of vision-casting, collaboration, and collective action to solve global challenges, create long-lasting growth and make people’s daily lives better. It has been visible that vibrant, scalable, and high-performing startup ecosystems have the power to transform global ecosystems, infrastructure, and communities.
GEC 2023 will highlight the following:
The Next Generation of Ecosystems in the Post-Pandemic World
The Rise of Entrepreneurship + Innovation in Asia
An Inclusive Prosperity Framework
Deeper Solutions for Exponential Global Challenges
The New Role of Government in Strengthening Entrepreneurs + Communities.
The Increasing Importance of Connectivity + Cross Border Collaboration.
At GEC 2023, you will be able to:
+Gain valuable insight from global leaders on how ecosystems are innovating for bigger and wider impact with examples of ready-to-scale programs and next-generation efforts to help entrepreneurs sharpen their skills.
