Over these years, 22 On Sloane solidified its position as Africa’s largest entrepreneurship campus, remaining steadfast in its mission to guide startups and SMMEs from ideation through to scaling. 

 

The COVID-19 pandemic posed significant challenges globally, disrupting industries, livelihoods, and businesses of all sizes, especially startups and SMMEs. The economic downturn and widespread business closures created an uncertain environment. Despite these challenges, 22 On Sloane remained committed to its mission, providing essential resources and support to entrepreneurs. Our programmes during this period enabled businesses not only to endure but also to prepare for recovery and future growth in the post-pandemic economy. In 2020, we released a report that examined the impact of COVID-19 on SMMEs and startups, offering crucial insights into the challenges entrepreneurs encountered. 

 

Our comprehensive programmes demonstrated strong engagement and delivered positive outcomes for participating businesses. As an ecosystem enabler, 22 On Sloane hosted numerous events and thought leadership sessions, further contributing to the development of a robust entrepreneurial community. 

 

The years 2021 to 2023 were marked by notable achievements, with 22 On Sloane not only advancing the growth of startups and SMMEs but also making a vital contribution to economic empowerment in South Africa and across the African continent.
